The Instructional Technology & Design Program

The Instructional Design and Technology (ITD) program at Western New Mexico University (WNMU) offers programs at the undergraduate and master’s level, which prepares ITD professionals to meet the needs of learners of all ages, young and old, in a digital world. ITD programs develop skills in planning, designing, implementing and assessing instruction, and program management. With a focus on digital learning, skills are developed which enhance instructional material design and course design and delivery, strengthening skills which can be employed in face to face, online, or video conference settings for professional development, classroom instruction, and distance education at all levels and in various contexts. Instructional design is an emerging field expected to grow rapidly in coming years and create large numbers of jobs averaging over $60,000/year.* Instructional designers are employed in widely diverse settings:

  • corporate and military training
  • non-profit organizations
